Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

We just had a great Thanksgiving with Derek’s parents in Florida. It was nice to have our first Thanksgiving at home and not having to travel anywhere. We really had a great time relaxing and just enjoying time as a family, though Grandma and Grandpa really enjoyed spending time with Heidi. We had a great meal on Thursday that Nichole prepared with Derek frying a turkey. We also had the missionaries over for dinner from the Branch so we had a pretty big crowd in our small house for Dinner. We also went up for a drive to a place called Watercolor which is about 30 minutes from Panama City. It is a resort community right on the beach and they have a beautiful garden and beach front and really just enjoyed walking around. Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was great and we all have so much to be truly Thankful for, especially the many freedoms we enjoy.

Thanksgiving in Nebraska

Howdy-

Well I thought I would give a quick update about our Thanksgiving trip to Lincoln, NE. Nichole and I were able to go out and spend Thanksgiving with my Sister and her husband in Lincoln, where Matt is attending Law School at the University of Nebraska. My parents flew in from Jackson and we met them there. It was a neat expierence spending Thanksgiving not at Home, but we had a great time. Matt and I were able to play football on Thanksgiving morning on the University of Nebraska football field. It was a sweet expierence, especially as I understand, that no one is usually allowed on the field. After the football game we had dinner and I fried a turkey for the dinner and we had a wonderful meal. We spent the rest of the week spending time with family, visiting the surrounding area, and for Matt and I studying. We also had the oppurtunity to visit Winter Quarters and the Winter Quarters Temple. The picutres from the trip are up in the Gallerys and you should definitly check them out. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Walt Disney World

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Hello All, I just posted the pictures from our Walt Disney World Thanksgiving vacation in the gallery section so you will have to check them out. We had a great time with Nichole’s family and were able to see all of Walt Disney World and spend some quality time with them. It was a great week as we did a lot of rides, saw some shows, and did a lot of hurrying up to wait in line, (i.e. what else do you do at disney world ;-) ).  Plus it was her Dad’s 50th Birthday so we spent time celebrating that as I think he enjoyed the whole Disney thing more than the rest of us, I think the birthday brought more of the kid out in him again. For Thanksgiving we ate at the 50’s Diner in Disney/MGM Studious and had the usual turkey and stuffing with pumpkin pie for desert and it was yummy, plus it made it feel a little like Thanksgiving in the place of magic. Our hotel was the All Star Music resort and below is a picture in front of the oversized cowboy boot that was in front of our room as we were in the country music side, which was a plus for me and a negative for the rest as they all don’t seem to like country music all that much. Other than that it was a usual disney trip with a lot of fun13967 Were home now and getting ready to fry a turkey on sunday with the Millers and to relax this weekend before the school starts again. I only have two weeks left till finals so it is going to be a little hectic. Well I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Derek and Nichole

Break Time

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Well I had the first few free minutes during a week in a long time and I thought I would post a quick blog entry. Things are going well with school with Thanksgiving break starting this week as we will be heading off the Disney World for the break to spend time with Nichole’s family and to enjoy a little bit of the warmth. Work and school are going well with the same old usual, especially with final reports being do to the Army and the Navy for my current research projects. Plus hopefully after this week I will not have to do any more flying for the year, I have spent way too much time in the Denver airport. Well I hope everybody has a great thanksgiving and Nichole and I will post pictures of the Thanksgiving in Disney World for all to see as I am sure it is going to be an experience.Derek
