Merry Christmas!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Well we just got back into town from Nichole’s parents in Chesapeake, VA.  We had a wonderful time with her family and it was a good relaxing break from school and work for the both of us. We had the usual Christmas exciting festivities with presents and so forth. We also made a trip down to a museum in Norfolk, VA which had a tour of the USS Wisconsin and displays of US Naval History and was very interesting and enlightening. We also went to a gun shop in downtown Norfolk which has three floors, one for the guns and supplies, the second was nothing but ammunition, and the third was an indoor pistol range. We took some time at the range and Derek showed everybody how to shoot a pistol. We were able to shoot a Ruger 357 Mag Revolover, Ruger 38 Special Revolver, and a Glock 27 .40. Also at the range they had target called ‘Al Quida’ and Derek just had to shoot at it.  For the final dinner we had a lobster, crab, and shrimp boil which was a fantastic feast. There are plenty of pictures in the Gallery of all our Christmas events.  Hope everyone else had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

So this is pretty cool. I got an invite to submit an article to sea technology magazine and it was published this month. I will post the pdf of the article when I get a chance.

Exciting News

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Well everyone I thought I would make a post since Derek has been doing most of them lately. We have some really exciting news. We are going to have a baby! The due date is July 11, 2009. We have decided not to find out what we are having so we can have a really big surprise. I have been feeling really pretty good, only a few bad days and really have not thrown up at all. Which has been really great. Our families are both really excited since it will be the  first grandbaby for either side, needless to say that baby is going to be spoiled. We posted the picture of the ultrasound, this shot was not really good, but the head is on the right and the feet are pointed to the left. The baby moved quite a bit so I was really able to  see it really well. Derek is doing good just busy with finals but he and I both are really excited. Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanksgiving in Nebraska

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Howdy-

Well I thought I would give a quick update about our Thanksgiving trip to Lincoln, NE. Nichole and I were able to go out and spend Thanksgiving with my Sister and her husband in Lincoln, where Matt is attending Law School at the University of Nebraska. My parents flew in from Jackson and we met them there. It was a neat expierence spending Thanksgiving not at Home, but we had a great time. Matt and I were able to play football on Thanksgiving morning on the University of Nebraska football field. It was a sweet expierence, especially as I understand, that no one is usually allowed on the field. After the football game we had dinner and I fried a turkey for the dinner and we had a wonderful meal. We spent the rest of the week spending time with family, visiting the surrounding area, and for Matt and I studying. We also had the oppurtunity to visit Winter Quarters and the Winter Quarters Temple. The picutres from the trip are up in the Gallerys and you should definitly check them out. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
